I read an excellent article on IIABA newsletter about shopping your personal auto insurance on "price" alone. Copy and paste this link into your browser to read the article: http://www.iamagazine.com/viewpoints/read/2015/08/17/auto-insurance-can-you-handle-the-truth
It will hopefully make you think about the saying "You get what you pay for" when you think about any of your insurance premiums whether it's your business insurance or your personal insurance. Yes, price should be a consideration but not the total reason you base your decision on what agent or insurance carrier you finally place your trust in.
Independent agents sometimes may recommend the insurance company that doesn't have the lowest premium but there is a reason for that.....they are looking out for your interests should a claim occur. We hope it doesn't happen, but wouldn't you rather be prepared and covered than find out if you would have just spent that extra $50; $100; $500 dollars up front that your claim is covered and you are not financially left holding the bag?
